In Georgia, a chemical plant fire prompts evacuations.
Following a fire at a chemical factory, Georgia has evacuation orders in place.
The Symrise Chemical Plant is located in Georgia's Glynn County. Jacksonville, Florida, is located roughly 60 miles to the north.
On Monday morning, the Glynn County Sheriff's Office claimed that numerous explosions had been reported.
People in Hickory Bluff, Sanctuary Cove, Satilla Shores, and Royal Oaks were advised to evacuate.
Officials are concerned that smoke would fly into populated areas, according to a representative for the Glynn County administration who talked to The Associated Press.
According to a fire official, the fire is no longer widespread, but personnel are avoiding areas with dangerous chemicals.
The incident at the facility, which purportedly creates chemicals for food and cosmetics, is still under investigation.
